Tool-Kit Released. Smart Campus Cloud Network .

“ Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE released the Tool-Kit for SCCN developed by TERRE Policy Centre at National Conference on “Indian Higher Education – Challenges of Autonomy and Accountability” organized by Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) wherein, more than 200 education leaders around India, including Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Directors and Heads of the Departments from leading universities of India participated.Pune, 19 th August: “Smart Campus Cloud Network connects educational institutions to the national and international mission of bringing sustainable, eco-friendly, energy-efficient and climate-resilient development. It provides platform where campuses can connect with each other to learn the bestpractices and continue to further improve upon that,” said Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE while releasing the Tool-Kit for SCCN developed by TERRE Policy Centre.

Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe was delivering a key note address at the National Conference on “Indian Higher Education – Challenges of Autonomy and Accountability” organized by Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) wherein, more than 200 education leaders around India, including Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Directors and Heads of the Departments from leading universities of India participated. Dr. Sahasrabudhe emphasized that understanding of the sustainable development is one of the most important facets of education, “It is a win-win situation for EPSI and TERRE to release  SCCN Tool-Kit in this important conference, where we are not only learning the need of autonomy but our accountability as well’ added Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Alternate President of EPSI.

The Tool-Kit is an overall road map for educational campuses to implement SCCN. It provides information and practical knowledge to students and faculties on activities to be carried out in the campus related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). By sharing the successes and challenges through the cloud network the campuses would generate positive competition. SCCN is, the, enabler for innovations in campus. “The users i.e. students and faculties, of the Tool-Kit are very special. They are the ‘gold-mines’ of knowledge that can promote innovation for the sustainable  development,” said Mr. Rajendra Shende, Chairman TERRE Policy Centre and Former Director UNEP. “Sharing the information through cloud could further trigger advances in the societal benefits,” added Mr. Shende.

Referring to the statistics reported by various agencies that 60 to 80 percent of  engineering graduates from the staggering eight hundred thousand engineering students in India are found to be unemployable each year, Mr. Rajendra Shende said, “One of the reasons is the growing mismatch between ‘subjects taught’ in universities and ‘skills needed’ in the market place. SCCN attempts to fill that gap by imparting digital skills through learning by doing.”

Dr. G Viswanathan-President of EPSI and Founder & Chancellor VIT Institute of Technology (Vellore), Dr. Mangesh Karad-Vice President MIT ADT University (Pune), and Mr. P. Palanivel-Executive Secretary also graced the release of SCCN Tool-Kit.
